In March, Jesse went to SOLAR, a LARP event and a chance to take his
tabletop dungeons and dragons fun out into the Georgia woods.
"Boffer" weapons are thin pvc pipe wrapped in foam, then
gray duct tape. Spells are cast with small bean bags. Each character,
just like at home, has strengths and weaknesses, but the game
requires that you dress appropriately and run about. When you meet a
stranger on the path, remember to ask "What do I see?" in
case they say "a 20 foot tall red skinned humanoid". And
take their gold when you kill them. |
