THE MAN WHO DREAMS

(Three stages of finally growing up)

The man who dreams is lost in fog
when he looks about him through a veil of optimistic delusion
(he slips and slides on waxy falsehoods).
He sees what isn't and never was.
His soul floats about like an untethered balloon and
Random drifting is proudly proclamed progress.

The man who dreams is full of tears
as the veil is lifted from his eyes
(he stumbles and falls over obvious truths, one after another).
He sees what is and knows it to be so.
His heart is punctured like a beachball since
He had gladly filled it with only so much hot air.

The man who dreams is full of life
when his eyes look to the horizon
(he plants his feet on new found solid ground).
He sees what isn't, but could be, should be.
He scatters his dreams like marbles on the floor.
  Each finding their own place.
Each pulling him forward in a different direction.
