 While
the actual party was pretty small, Jesse certainly got his biggest
birthday haul ever.
As part of home schooling, he had just completed a project to switch
our internet service over to the fiber optic service from Road
Runner. The project included finding a webhost, buying a new URL, and
configuring and uploading our entire site.
At the end of that project, as we started to "price" a new
upgraded computer, he found a one giga-hertz refurbished unit on "UBid",
an EBay equivalent for business type items. Jesse was definitely
surprised when we placed a bid and then raised it twice as the
auction progressed. But Dave was the one with the biggest surprise
when we won! Here is the winning UBid screen just minutes after our
final bid was confirmed. The new computer arrived about a week later,
and Jesse did all of the setup and configuration, working through
difficult technical problems, using only the absolute minimal help
