This was all very new to us at age 20. The software package he ran was supported by a company in Arlington, VA in the very neighborhood where Dave and Bruce traveled the previous year. He sent a resume and went on an interview but it went very poorly and no offer was made. The most interesting facet of his first job interview was that he dallied at the airport bar with his contact and missed his return flight (panicking Lyn) then had to fly standby on a flight two hours later. In the meantime, his boss at Macauley's, a small man in both stature and mindset, orchestrated complete bedlam including calling Dave's dad using the next-of-kin telephone number from his HR files. You learn the most lessons where things do not go according to plan. Oct 1980 Denver Interview / Scouting Trip All Dave answered an ad to 'move to the mountains of Denver' and had an interview at the Detroit airport. He accepted a job offer and we both went on a one-week final interview and apartment scouting mission to Denver. We stopped at a furniture outlet store, and ordered 3-rooms of 'odd lot' closeouts to be delivered one week after our arrival. We returned to Michigan, sold or gave away all our possessions, and loaded the few small things into a Jar-Tran rental trailer and moved west.
