We had been in the Dearborn house a year and a half, and this
particular fall in Michigan was beautiful, with cool and crisp air
scented by autumn leaves. It is still our favorite time and favorite
place and the only thing we miss living in Florida.
Lyn found the dried cornstalks at the nearby fruit market, and
they were the perfect accent for the perfect time in the perfect
place for us.

Dave had just started to work as a consultant and travel out of the
office on business. For the first time ever, we traveled together to
visit Dave's customer in Mansfield, Ohio and returned on the evening
of Halloween just in time to pass out candy.
Lyn got a day to herself in Mansfield, and visited the Johnny
Appleseed monument and nearby aviary. It set the pattern for us that
we still follow to this day. Drive on a business trip, split up
during the day, then come together and take 'the long way' home. |

We were taking pictures, and hit upon the idea of having Barney in
them. Of course, he was an inside-only cat and usually petrified to
be outside.
Of course, his nose worked overtime during the ten or so minutes we
sat for these pictures.
We were so young and just learning how to really live life to its fullest. |

This is the year that both of us belonged to TOPS (Take Off Pounds
Sensibly) and Lyn was our chapter's leader. For Halloween, we both
dressed in costume: Lyn as 'honesty' and Dave as 'temptation'. |
