This
was Barney's last big Halloween, as Jesse quickly became the center
of attention each October. And that was just fine with him. He had no
interest whatsoever in showing off on his 'big day' each year,
spending it, honestly, UNDER the bed.
His traumas had just recently started. He had always been anxious
around small children and he developed several nervous related
problems as Jesse started to get mobile. The vet was evasive because
many families will give up their aged cat if it doesn't like the new
baby. But like we told him, Barney was here first. Each "baby
gate" had a strategic cat size passageway cut into it and he
would often sit one inch on the other side of the grating. He never
ever warmed up to being Jesse's "older brother" and he
always clearly considered himself to be "Dave's Cat" to his
very last day. |
