Hell Week - Get the House Ready |
All |
|
|
|
With the baby due to arrive in May, February and March would be our
last chance to get the house ready. We made a full project, getting
new carpet and completely redecorating the new baby nursery. |

Dave's Business Trips |
Dave |
|
|
|
With the new baby home and settled, it was time to get back to work.
Dave had just begun taking his first "real" business trips.
He visited the D&L plant in Red Oak, Iowa to deliver some
software consulting as they went live on his package.
It was the first time he went early to sight-see, and the first time
he attended a minor league baseball game. It was also the first time
he took the camera and spent some time collecting picture souvenirs
of his trip. |

Birthday Surprise for Lyn's Mom |
All |
|
|
|
 |
Lyn's mom celebrated here 50th birthday so her girls got together and
decorated the house with hundreds of helium balloons. All the rooms
were decorated and many had the entire ceiling full of the colorful
orbs and dangling ribbons.

LA Business Trip: Earthquake and Disneyland |
Dave |
|
|
|
|
After his small software company was acquired by Cullinet Software,
Dave was asked to make a small overview presentation at the annual
Cullinet user conference at the Anaheim Convention Center. This was
Dave's first trip to California and he was accompanied by Dave and
Lynn, sales consultants and regular travelers. The "other
Dave" was an absolute Disneyland-maniac. His mom had lived
in Anaheim for years and his sister actually worked at the park. Of
course, they found time one afternoon to visit the "Happiest
Place on Earth" using the employee discount for tickets and an
armful of souvenirs. |

Dave had a free morning and borrowed the groups car and the other
Dave's camera to shoot some pictures of exotic Los Angeles to bring
home. In the middle of his drive down to to Newport Beach, the road
began to shake and the overhead stoplights began to sway in slow
rhythm. It was an earthquake! The "Pasadena earthquake"
caused some damage 50 miles to the north but the initial quake and
the aftershocks that continued for hours were the talk of every radio
station and everybody at the conference. Sadly, Dave had misloaded
the film in the borrowed camera, and only these few shot were
actually taken. Over the years, Dave has visited LA hundreds of
times, but his first visit was certainly the most memorable. |

Henry Ford Musuem |
All |
|
|
|
We wanted to try out our baby backpack and we wanted to get some
exercise. Lyn's parents had some discount tickets to the nearby Henry
Ford Museum that were due to expire. We hadn't been to visit since we
were in elementary school, so we made the excuse and had a
satisfactory December Saturday in Dearborn. |
