Jesse was just out of the hospital with a bad eye infection (you can
still see tiny purple mark). He decided to be Peter Pan, with the
green cap, red feather and backlit sword from the recent "Disney
on Ice" tour. He bounced around the house in that outfit all the
time with poor Mom having to be Wendy.
It was obvious for Dave to be "John" with a bulky
nightshirt over his warm clothes on that very chilly October night in
Michigan. We realized, at the last minute, that we didn't actually
have an actual full-sized traditional black umbrella, so pressed
Dave's travel umbrella into service.
Jesse's trick, if you asked, was to light up his sword.
Within two weeks, the mega-doses of anti-biotics upset the balance of
his blood platelets. He ended up in Children's Hospital with I.T.P.,
a serious but temporary malady where blood clotting agents fail, much
like the permanent condition of hemophilia. It is hard to tell a two
year old to not get any bruises. |
