We bundled up and headed out to see the fun, but these pictures don't really show the proper tint and brightness. There was a bit of a warm spell this year, good for the spectators but bad for the sculptures. Feb 1990 Sunday Drive Grosse Ile, MI All A Sunday drive showing the Detroit River and Canada The outline of distant Detroit and the RenCen One Sunday was unseasonably warm and sunny, so Dave insisted we get out for air. We piled in the car and drove about, spending some time on nearby Grosse Ile (pronounced "GROW-ZEAL" by native Detroiters). We got some drive through for lunch and enjoyed a sunny Sunday together.  Later, we found a spot to take a couple pictures of the chilly Detroit river and the nearby Canadian shore Mar 1990 Birthday Party for Dave's Dad All Dave's Dad turned 70, so his family had a slightly larger celebration than normal (meaning, they had one at all!). His parents were happy to be amidst their children and grandchildren and, like always, the evening eventually became a set of simultaneous stories and pantomimes done by the few loud speakers while the rest looked on. Jesse was old enough to be interested in his cousin's video game unit, despite our best efforts to shield him from that Electronic Demon. Dave's Dad turned Seventy years old April 1990 Bozo Visits our Mall All When the paper announced that Bozo, "the world's most famous clown", would be paying a visit to the nearby Fairlane Mall, Dave immediately announced we be going. Dave brought the camera and Lyn made sure we came early to get good seats. Bozo sang and told jokes and had one or two games from his TV show, but then stayed after to allow the small kids to shake his hand while the parents took a quick picture. Unfortunately, the experience was a little too intense for Jesse, and we had an experience similar to the annual picture with Santa Claus. What a fun afternoon and a lifetime memory for everybody Lyn and Jesse got ringside seats Songs and Jokes Silly Skits Too intense for 2-year-old Jesse May 1990 Windsor-Chatham, ON All Windsor riverfront part Springtime is so exhilarating Dave had been consulting with clients across the river from Detroit in Windsor and also Cambridge, ON. On a sunny Sunday, we took a car ride to see his client sites, eat lunch at Kelsey's and to sightsee in nearby yet exotic Ontario. We found a park in Chatham, and took some of our favorite pictures of Jesse. Also, a tremendous wind picked up in late afternoon, so we parked the car and flew the kite that we kept in the trunk for just such an opportunity. Just outside of  Windsor, several city parks were relatively tree-less and adjoined flat Ontario fields so there was plenty of unobstructed winds and no trees to worry about. What a wonderful day.
