The neighborhood kids from Dearborn where a delightful treasure.
Joey, Brittany, and Nick were fun and fearless. We will always
remember the day Brittany skidded her big wheel to at stop, pointed
at Jesse, and shouted to Joey: "Look, its another kid!"
We sensed this might be our last birthday party together. Dave was
laid off as his company slowly went out of business, so he was
hurrying to finish his college degree in nightschool and doing some
contracting on the side. |

The kids had a great time at the party, and the grown ups, too. Lyn
always did a great job at finding things that were simple and fun to
do. This picture will always be priceless for us.
The kids started kindergarten in September, and Brittany's family
moved to a new house about a mile away shortly afterward. Of course,
Dave commuted to Utah starting in September and we all moved when the
house sold the following February.

The house was decked out for the party, and we had lots of pizza and
of course a pinata with candy and little toys.
Lyn had the cake especially made with Jesse's favorite video game
character "Link" from the "Legend of Zelda"
Nintendo game.
Jesse spent his childhood pouncing around our Dearborn house,
swinging one of the dozen swords from his toybox. First as Peter Pan,
then as Donatello the purple Ninja-Turtle (borrowing Leonardo's
sword), then finally as Link. What a wonderful gift we were given to
have him as our son. |
