The
worst part of this year was undoubtedly when my best
friend Thomas moved to New Jersey. It was kind of weird for me, as in
the past I was always the one moving. Dad made a good point about how
when you move, you get an all new city and all new friends, but when
someone else does, all you get is one less friend. And trust me, good
ones like Thomas are in short supply. I am starting to think they
don't even make them anymore.
When it was certain that Thomas was moving this year we pulled out
alot of the pictures we had taken over the years of family activities
that included him. There was well over a picturebook filled with
parades, parties, festivals, trips, sleepovers, cards, games,
projects and just hanging together. We first met while we were in
second grade, that's seven years together and seven years of pictures
of us growing up together. We compiled a special collection for him
and gave them to him in an album. He seemed really touched. Mom cried
when he left. She had always called him her "second son"
Although my parents (read Mom) have been trying to hook me up with
other home schoolers, and I have been hanging out with another
friend, the loss of Thomas has definitely effected me. However, we
talk almost daily, and thanks to the Internet, we still play computer
games with each other. Thanks to a new computer we recently
purchased, both Dad and I can play Red alert 2 with Thomas online. To
be truthful, I am luckier than Thomas. He seems to be adjusting, but
it isn't a pleasant experience. Poor me. Poor, poor Thomas.
