My Mom has been very ill this year. The Year
started out with her being admitted to the hospital for some unknown
internal bleeding that could never be located. She was also admitted
a few weeks later for congestive heart failure. When the
doctors attempted a catheterization of her heart she developed a
hematoma that needed emergency surgery and later developed into a
life threatening infection. Because of her heart disease and
her diabetes her arteries had become so frail that any type of heart
surgery was out of the question.
With congestive heart failure, diabetes, internal bleeding and also
now the infection, the doctors had pretty much given up hope that
anything could be done. Lyn 's Dad would call and give us reports
every couple of days and we were making arrangement to travel up
north. But, for anyone who knows Lyn's Mom they will not be surprised
to know that she surprised everyone and pulled through. It took three
months of hospitalization and two months of specialized
institutionalized care before Mom was able to go home for some
visits. First one day a week then two until finally she could walk up
a ramp to her own front door. She is still receiving therapy in her
home, but happier to be surrounded by all of her favorite things. She
even made it down to Florida for a visit with an old family friend
and for some pool and massage therapy. (the friend is a chiropractor)
We all drove down to visit them and took them out for dinner. Grandpa
and Gramma were surprised to see just how much Jesse had grown. Mom
has her good days and bad but is being closely monitored by her
doctors and is able to be at home were she is most comfortable.
