Plot |
Jackie Robinowitz runs away from home after his father tries to force
him to become a cantor like himself. Jackie wanted to become a jazz
singer instead, which his father considered an evil form of music.
Jackie changes his name to Jack Robin, and tours the country singing
jazz. He manages to keep in touch with his mother, falls in love, and
gets a chance to sing on Broadway. When he goes back home, his father
kicks him out again, and then becomes very ill. Jack is then forced
to choose between his father's dying wish that he sing for a
religious holiday, or the Broadway show's opening night. |
