We
woke up in Ellsworth, ME, and drove east along the Atlantic coast.
This giant Lobster Pot would have been great for dinner, but we
didn't run into it until breakfast time. We passed through the many
small towns, crossing the bridge into New Brunswick around 3pm. |

 Just
across the boarder from Lubec, Maine is Campobello
Island, NB, famous as the summer retreat for President Franklin
Roosevelt. The FDR family home and
grounds are open for tours and have some nice diorama style
information. We took the ferry boat to Deer
Island, to see the "World's
Largest Whirlpool" (Old Sow), an interesting bay-size
phenomenon that is totally impossible to photograph, even if you
shoot an entire roll. We stopped for coffee and snacks, hopped
another ferryboat to the New Brunswick mainland, and continued east.
We stopped in St
John, NB, circled the town a little, and had a small dinner. We
drove on into the dark and spent the night in Moncton. |
