We
woke up in Church
Point, NS and followed the shore south to Yarmouth, then east,
then north all the way to Halifax. We encountered dozens of
picturesque sea side scenes like these pictures here.
I was fascinated by the wooden harborside buildings painted with bold
colors and standing in irregular shore hugging patterns. |

After
an hour in Yarmouth, including watching the arrival of the American
ferry from Maine and buying more souvenirs, we drove on toward
Halifax. This "lonely highway" represents perfectly many of
the miles both north and south of Halifax. Natural beauty, pristine
solitude, and pleasant summertime temperatures made for happy
memories. Even the famous Maritime weather, cloudy and rainy skies,
made for a nice change from the harsh August sunshine in Florida. |

Here we are in Lunenburg,
the home port of the Bluenose II sailing ship. The picturesque town
included many stores and shops. We enjoyed a rest along the
harborside and touring the boat, then drove on north back to Halifax. |

We
enjoyed our evening in Halifax, stopping at a mall to buy more
souvenirs and several CD's of Canadian folk-singers and storytellers
including another title from my favorite Canadian balladeer Stompin
Tom Conners. After a small dinner, we all enjoyed rolling
another set of lines at a candlepin alley, this time Lyn joined us in
the fun. Finally, we took a circle trip around the city for some
final planning of what to do tomorrow with our last day and night of
vacation. We turned in to bed, very ready to head back home. |
