By
the time we got to the hotel, it was already getting dark. We rested
a bit and took this picture from our room, then headed out on foot
(no car on this trip) in our heavy coats and Jesse with his ear-flap
"Snoopy" hat.
We walked down the Miracle Mile, and stopped at the Water Tower mall
to have a dinner snack in the food court. Dave had arrived on Tuesday
and done some scouting and sightseeing. He had already attended the
"no charge" show at the Improv Olympics and had everybody
looking forward to our visit. |

On
the second day, Dave worked while Lyn and Jesse just walked around
shopping and window shopping. For dinner it was the original Pizzeria
Uno for authentic / original Chicago-style deep dish pizza. It was
just one short block from out hotel room at the Embassy Suites on
State Street and Ohio. |

After
that, we jumped the red line and headed out to the Ivanhoe theatre
to see "Hell Cab". Its a semi-iprovisatoinal play, that
been running for years depicting quirky cab drivers and their
quirkier fares. Each show is a slightly different mix of brief 2-5
minute skits (so I hear) but we only saw it once.
We arrived a little early, so after buying tickets, we walked over to
a nearby coffee shop. The soft snow had turned to ice-cold rain and
sleet and the wind made umbrellas unusable. Part of the trip was to
scout the distant notion of someday moving to Chicago. The weather
was absolutely brutal for the entire 10 days, and it happily helped
us make up our mind to visit Chicago every year (in Spring or Winter)
but to live in warm and sunny Florida. |
