President Truman's grave is located in the courtyard of his
Presidential libarary and museum and is
accompanied by an eternal flame. The building is located within a
block of his home and sits on
land previously used as a city park. The outside courtyard is
surrounded by the building and
accessible only during museum hours.
We returned to the gravesite during May 2001, figuring to get
pictures without snow and clouds. Unfortunately,
we arrived during a major construction and paid our respects beneath
the din of small bobcat front loaders. |

Jesse is considerably older. No snow this time
but imagine the sound of the construction crew
completely rearranging the quiet courtyard. (5/01) |
I was particulary moved to see President Trumans's
'perpetual flame' unearthed and set aside during
the reconstruction (5/01) |
