Eugene to Redding |

Today was to be a nose to the road drive from Eugene to Medford and
down to Redding California. With really no destinations to stop and
see except the beautiful scenery along I-5. We found a bagel place in
Eugene, three doors from the OU campus, then pointed the car south
and drove all day. |

We drove by Medford around lunchtime, stopped for Jack in the Box,
then drove by the outlet stores for "Harry and David" and
"Jackson and Perkins". Lyn has always received brochures
from both of these companies so it was strange to find them shoulder
to shoulder in the same mall. |

We crossed over into California, spinning once around Yreka then
heading down to the Mt Shasta viewpoint freeway turnoff. The weather
was cruddy, but as we sat and enjoyed the view, the clouds lifted
(just slightly) and we caught these pictures. Of course, as we drove
off, the sky turned suddenly spectacular blue, but we were out of
photo range by then (drat). |
|
|
We
took many pictures of Mt Shasta with our digital camera and Dave
assembled a couple of nice panoramas just for practice. Alas, they
were lost with our backpacks in Vancouver. |
|
|
After Mt Shasta, we drove down to Redding and stayed (on points) at
the Holiday
Inn Express. We drove around town a little, then had dinner at a
small Mexican restaurant. |
