We
woke up in Eureka, and shot a roll of film. The city was pretty, and
we added Humboldt State University to Dave's collection of college
photos. There were a couple of interesting stores, a storefront
business office for a group advocating Marijuana legalization, and
the old mill area out on a small peninsula into the ocean. As we
pressed north, we got several excellent pictures of the next few
stands of redwoods (in the bright sunshine). Then at the last stop,
managed to lose the roll of film. Oh well, we wouldn't let that get
us down. |

As we headed north to Oregon, we took pictures of our first
encounters with the beautiful Pacific Ocean coastline. It was cloudy
and threatening rain, but the scenery and the pictures were memorable
for us. Of course, this coastline is typical all the way north to
Canada, so the next few days will have many pictures like these. |

We couldn't drive by this sight without stopping for a picture. This
giant Paul Bunyan and Babe his blue ox are in Kalmath, California at
the "Trees of Mystery". (See Jesse for scale next to Paul
Bunyan's boot). Of course, Paul 'spoke' to the kids from a hidden
speaker somewhere: "Hi! Where are you guys from? Come on inside. etc" |

The day brightened up for some spectacular scenery captured in these
pictures. Near the Oregon border in Crescent City, CA we stopped of
this picture of Lyn with the barking seal at "Ocean World".
We always have to stop for pictures like these, don't you? |
|
 |
Later in this trip we lost our backpacks (with our note books).
Thanks for those who wrote and reminded us where this "mystery
picture" was taken! You are true traveler friends. |
