We were up early and Dave was packed to fly back east. We had
breakfast out and then dropped him at Sea-Tac airport. Lyn and Jesse
headed to Target to buy replacement Personal Communicators (read
that: Walkie-Talkies) to replace the ones lost with the backpacks in
Vancouver. From there it was out to drive "around the sound"
to Bremerton,
Washington. First they were to visit the Elandan Bonsai Gardens
and then pressed on to the Bremerton Naval Yards and Naval Museum. |

Jesse
has always been especially fond of Japanese style gardens. The
Elandan bonsai trees are located about one hour from Seattle and are
definitely a labor of love for its creator. Please follow the link
and read about the bonsai trees and the
amazing man (the "Dan" of elandan) responsible for them. |

After the bonsai gardens, we went on to the Puget
Sound Naval Ship Yards, and got to see the USS Turner Joy, the
waterfront park, and the Bremerton Naval Museum. We walked along the
waterfront and checked out the museum. It was a nice way for for Lyn
and Jesse to spend a Sunday afternoon together. |

We took the ferry
back from Bremerton that drops you off right off in downtown Seattle.
The ride was very scenic and takes less than an hour. It passes right
by the city waterfront with excellent city views (like this one with
Jesse and the Space Needle).
From the ferry it was once around downtown then on to dinner at a
Chinese restaurant and back to the hotel. |
