Dave had back to back classes in Winston-Salem, NC and Norfolk, VA
with a 4 day break in between. Instead of flying back to Florida, we
all packed our winter clothes and headed back to Washington for a
second time. Dave's first class quit a day early (technical
problems), and he ended up arriving a day by himself. We used points
for the plane tickets and the hotels, including the extra day. We
stayed at the Hyatt Bethesda (directly on the Red Metro line) and
skipped the car. This was OK since we had already visited our list of
"car" sites: Arlington Cemetary, National Cathedral, the
Navy Yard, suburban Malls and the NSA museum in Greenbelt, MD. While
there, a horrible sleet storm coated everything in ice, causing the
usual power interruptions. We found the Hyatt suddenly full of local
residents with no power at home, including their crying babies and
homeless people style bags of clothes. All-in-all it was a rather odd
exerience. At the end of the week-end, Dave rented a car and
drove onto Norfolk and his next class while Lyn and Jesse flew home. |
